Practice environments
A Linux terminal, Python and SQL in your browser, with exercises that tell you when you have it right. Nothing to install, and no account needed.
Linux terminal
A practice shell on a pretend machine: files, folders, permissions, pipes, grep, find, sed and awk. Use the playground, or work through 8 exercises drawn from everyday admin work.
Open the terminalPython
A full Python 3 with its standard library. Use the playground, or work through 6exercises on functions, loops, dictionaries, parsing logs and config files, and classes.
Open PythonSQL
SQLite with a small sales database already loaded. Query it freely, or work through 6exercises on filtering, grouping, joins and reporting.

How it works
- Your code runs in your own browser. It is not sent to our servers.
- The Linux terminal is a simulation built for learning: real commands on a pretend machine, so nothing you type can break anything.
- It runs in a sealed-off sandbox, separate from the rest of the site, and a run that takes longer than ten seconds is stopped.
- What you type and which exercises you solved are kept only in this browser, so you can come back to them. Clearing your browser data removes them.
- Answers are checked in your browser as feedback. Course progress and scores are separate, in your course account.
